May the road rise to meet you...

Hello,

I've been a bit quiet recently due mainly to the fact I broke my leg 6 weeks ago making life a tad difficult but yesterday the plaster came off and I am feeling much more positive.  I've made a few cards  so hope to share them over the next few days.

Today's card messures 8"x8", using only 2 ink pads - adirondack in lettuce and eggplant.
Stamps are by Inkylicious

Walk on a sparkly blue morning ...

Hello,

After weeks of being buffeted and bombarded by storms this is the first sparkly blue day of the year and it is SO lovely to see the sunshine again. We've experience one storm after another with high winds, torrential rain and flooding, hail, thunderstorms...it has been relentless so donning warm layers and sturdy boots I took myself off to the seaside early this morning.

The beach at Exmouth was quiet when I arrived, with just a few dog-walkers and runners enjoying the bright morning but soon it became quite busy as people made the most of this perfect weather...

The tide was on its way in and gulls and crows were patrolling the water's edge on the lookout for a tasty meal of shellfish then with their beaks full they'd take off to fly over the pathways to drop the mussels to crack the shells before eating the tasty titbits inside...

...out on the rocks geese were grazing on the seaweed...

...and the storms had thrown up huge stones and rocks onto the beach...

...everywhere debris scattered the beach...

...and huge piles of sand had been banked ready to distribulte back onto the beach after its being thrown up onto the promenade by the stormy weather...

...but today the sea was calm and the sky was the most amazing blue and there wasn't a breath of wind...

Lovely to breath the sea air again and to appreciate how fortunate we are to live so near to the coast.

I hope the sun is shining where you are today.
Thank you for visiting.

Just add glitter ...

Hello,

The challenge this month over at Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog is to Just Add Glitter so here is my entry...

I just love using the Gelli Plate so created the background by brayering Adirondack inks Butterscotch, Citrus and Cranberry onto the plate, then using Versafine Ink pads stamped a selection of Lavinia Stamps on top of the 1st layer of ink, adding a moon mask before taking a print onto smooth white card.

The effect of using inks on the Gelli Plate is just gorgeous and the vibrancy of the colours always surprises me and I never know how the image is going to turn out but as yet have never been disappointed.

Once the image had been trimmed I added a top layer of stamped images in versafine black onyx before edging the whole thing with Stream, Watermelon and Eggplant Adirondacks.

Finally dotting liquid pearls here and there to highlight the scene before sprinkling ultra fine glitter over the liquid pearls to Just Add Glitter...then matting and layering onto an 8" smooth white card.

Make some bookmarks....

Hello,

Each Christmas I like to give something handmade to friends and family.  In recent years I've concentrated on foodie treats but this year bookmarks were my little hand made gifts...

I had a roll on canvas in the cupboard...and cut 2 pieces 12"x12"...

I had spray inks...so sprayed one side of the canvas squares...

Then cut the sprayed canvas into strips...different widths from about 1 1/2" to 3"...

...cut each strip into 2 and put halves together wrong sides facing...

...cut out various shapes from old french book paper and fabric swatches...

arranging them in pleasing patterns and pictures onto the front piece of each bookmark, first sticking them before stitching them in place ...

then matching fronts to backs inserted some ribbon at the top of each bookmark before stitching the front to the back all around the perimeter...

Fun and easy to make the possibilities are endless...

Thank you Andrea Gomoll for the inspiration to make these. You can watch Andrea's great utube tutorial here .

Autumn Garden...

Hello,

Now that Autumn has arrived it's that time of year, again, for cutting back, tidying and planting spring bulbs...

A few photos...

...Dad made me my insect hotel which sits on top of the garden wall...

...Ivy creeps along the wall too...

...I decided to plant spring bulbs in pots this year...

...my Dad grew this lovely bay tree for me...

...new growth for next spring even now....

...my favourite pelargonium....

...all planted up...

...my acer hasn't been too happy this year....it's very sparse...

...view over the garden wall...

...mossy pots...

...all ready for winter...just the hazel trees at the bottom of the garden to cut back...that's Ed's job!!

Enjoy your gardening!!!
