A small canvas...

Hello,

Well my large canvas is shelved at the moment while I get to grips with making Christmas cards and gifts along with some birthday gifts.

My lovely blogging friend, Kathy Maximo, has a special birthday this month...I'm sure she won't mind me telling you, so I decided to make her a small canvas as a gift...

It measures just 7" x 5" and I really enjoyed making this one...

The inspiration for this came from the new 'Bonjour' paper collection from Kaisercraft .  I have a very big weakness for beautiful designer paper and Kaisercraft is brilliant because of all the added extras within their collections, including the most delicious stamps...

So when this landed on my doormat I could not help but be inspired!!!

I painted the canvas pink then added a layer of the designer paper and from there built up layer upon layer of acrylic paints stencilled through various Crafters Workshop masks then doodled and stamped and coloured and finished by adding one of the collection's wonderful butterflies, some cream pearls and some pink ribbon for hanging the canvas...

...and then, of course, more of the collection was used making Kathy's birthday card.

I shall link this to Paint Party Friday hosted by the ever lovely Kristin and Eva....

Today is also Armistice Day
  • Each year, on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we remember the end of the First World War and all those who have given their lives in the two world wars and in conflicts up to the present day. This year is a special Remembrance Day as it falls on a unique day: 11-11-11-11
  • The Poppy Appeal

Every year, poppies are worn to support the work of The Royal British Legion who provide practical help to the Armed Forces and their families.
Wear your poppy with pride!!! and remember all those who give their lives that we might be free!

Thank you for visiting and I really appreciate the time you take to leave such warm and encouraging messages. It always makes my day reading them.

Happy Weekend.
Lesley x

I have my poppy on (even though I seem to be the only person in an office of 80!) and will remember those who gave their lives for us.

Oh my Dear Lesley,
I am looking at this canvas now it is on my wall of art, from my art "sisters", above my desk and I see it every time I sit here.
I am in love with this piece and the card is no doubt the most beautiful card I have ever received. As Kate said, there is so much to see, and every time I gaze at either piece, I see something new.
I will treasure them, and I will not forget this lovely act of kindness you have shown me. You have given me a very tender and sweet message during a difficult time for me, and I hope to one day touch someone's heart in this way as well. JUST when they need it most.
Loving hugs to you my far away friend, xo
